I teach guitar and one of the biggest problems I have is getting students to know the open strings on the neck but they always reverse the tab and no matter how many times I tell them you have to look at it upside down they still don't understand, so what I have done is put the names of the strings at the beginnings of every tab line top to bottom EBGDAE.  I found that then, they could easily remember what string was what.  So I was just thinking I'd tell you this tip that I have learned.  I have put it on all of my tab.
